Synopsis: Junior year is going to be Mike’s (Mikayla) year. Her new best friend isn’t controlling, her boyfriend adores her and she’s learning to bike with in the mountains without running into trees. She meets a group of rider’s and they welcomed her into their group and she finally feels like she belongs. One special person in particular, Mica, who she really likes and helps support her and gives her confidence but, they’re not dating. When things finally start to come together for Mike her family starts to pressure her into taking more time for school in her future than hanging out with her friends and doing what she wants to do. She also needs to decide if she wants to be a follower or if she wants to do what she wants to do.

Thoughts: This was a cute coming-of-age type of romance. I really loved Micah, he was super cute and you could tell that he really cared for Mike. They had a great connection with there being bikes and they really seem to understand each other. It also is a very relatable book because Mike has all these choices about what she needs to decide for her future her friendships and any and everything else. Mike also learns that she has to be true to herself and make decisions just for her nobody else. Overall this was a really enjoyable and fun read.

*Thanks to the author and publisher for sending me an advanced copy for review.*

Synopsis: Charlie has been living with her aunt in the woods since her parents died in a car accident. She is always wanting to have something more in her life, than her dog and her aunt. Then her aunt gets taken by vampires, and it’s up to Charlie to save her. As soon as her aunt is taken she has a run with Sebastian, a vampire, that wants to kill her and save her. Both, embark on a journey to save Charlie’s aunt.

Thoughts: This was such a fun and fast paced read, that I read in no time. I was surprised at some of the plot twists that occur. I loved the interaction between Charlie and Sebastian, they have a love-hate relationship that I just adored. I was left on a cliff-hanger and I can’t wait to pick up the next book in the series!

Yellow Locust by Justin Joschko

Release Date: May 8, 2018

Publisher: Month9Books

Selena Flood is a fighter of preternatural talent. But not even her quick fists and nimble feet could save her parents from the forces of New Canaan, the most ruthless and powerful of the despotic kingdoms populating America-that-was.

Forced to flee the tyrannical state with her younger brother Simon in tow, Selena is now the last chance for peace in a continent on the verge of complete destruction.

In her pocket is a data stick, the contents of which cost her parents their lives. Selena must now ensure it reaches the Republic of California—a lone beacon of liberty shining across a vast and barren wasteland—before it’s too late.

Between New Canaan and California stretch the Middle Wastes: thousands of desolate miles home to murderers, thieves, and a virulent strain of grass called yellow locust that has made growing food all but impossible. So when Selena and Simon stagger into Fallowfield, an oasis of prosperity amidst the poisoned plains, everything seems too good to be true—including the warm welcome they receive from the town’s leader, a peculiar man known only as The Mayor.

As Selena delves deeper into the sinister secrets of this seemingly harmless refuge, she soon learns there is a much darker side to Fallowfield and the man who runs it. Before long, she must call upon the skills she honed in the fighting pits of New Canaan to ensure not only her own survival, but that of her brother, in whom the Mayor has taken far too keen an interest.

And she’d better act fast, for an all-out war inches ever closer, and New Canaan is never as far away as it seems.

Book Unhaul #1

I recently donated a few of my books to my school library and I thought I’d share them with you. Some of them I read and just didn’t like or I knew I would never end up reading them.

Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King

Finders Keepers by Stephen King

Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour

Gracling by Kristin Cashore

Fire by Kristin Cashore

Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore

Zac and Mia by A.J. Betts

Glory O’Brien’s History of the Future by A.S. King

I hope that some students at my school find something they will love. I also feel really good about donating these books because now I’ll have more room on my bookshelf and it helped to lower my TBR pile.

Girl Vs by X. Culletto

Why You’ll Love this book

I believe anyone who’s a fan of The Hunger Games or The Fifth Wave will love this book. The elements of a worldly threat, complex moral dilemmas, and of course a kick-ass heroine are all there. I’ve had several readers tell me they didn’t like Rhyan much at the beginning of the story, but by the end, absolutely loved her. Rhyan’s character arc is natural, and there will be much more development of it in the sequel.

Girl Vs (Sinister Skies#1) by X. Culletto

Before the Vela invasion, Rhyan’s biggest concern was getting through a day of school. But when she is thrust into the madness of a kill-or-be-killed world, her true strength emerges and a deadly warrior is unleashed. Stumbling through the new morals of a post-apocalyptic world, she learns to depend only on herself. As she gets closer to discovering what the aliens actually want, her lethality becomes unmatched, and she soon learns the extent she’ll go to in order to survive.

Xela Culletto loves all genres, but especially loves to geek out to sci-fi and fantasy. She currently lives in Utah with her husband and three children.

The Big Bad Wolf – Book Review

Title: The Big Bad Wolf

Author:  Jus Accardo

Publisher: Entangled: Teen

Publication Date: March 5, 2018

Pages: 184

Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis: Kensey Deaton comes from elites werewolves. She is to be married off to produce some of the strongest pups. Even though Kensey is completely against this idea of degradation of arranged mating and marriages. Kensey will do anything to keep this from happening even if it means to be “mated” to Slade McAlister to help them both out of situations neither want to be in.

Slade McAlister has his own problems. His Alpha father happens to be the most reviled wolf on the eastern seaboard, always expecting Slade to be his Second, never the Alpha.

Both aren’t only from opposite sides of the tracks, they’re from opposite sides of the war. If they can sell their ‘relationship’, they might just make it out of this with their freedom. This may just be the best thing that has happened to either of them.

Thoughts: Overall this wasn’t how I expected this to be. I was suprised at how it broke most of the rules of how most werewolve novels are. It was almost like religious families were marrying off thier daughters. It was a pretty quick and fun read. It held my attention.

You can get it on Amazon, and Barnes and Noble.

Cover Reveal: Spies, Lies, and Allies by Lisa Brown

Let us know what you think of the cover for Spies, Lies, and Allies: A Love Story by Lisa Brown Roberts, which releases May 1, 2018!

This cover reveal is brought to you by Entangled Teen.

About Spies, Lies, and Allies: A Love Story:

Summers are supposed to be fun, right? Not mine. I’ve got a job at my dad’s company, which is sponsoring a college scholarship competition. I just found out that, in addition to my job assisting the competing interns, I’m supposed to vote for the winner. Totally not what I signed up for.

There’s a crazy guy running the competition like it’s an episode of Survivor. Then there’s Carlos, who is, well, very distracting –– in a good way. But I can’t even think about him that way because Crazy Guy says any fraternizing on the job means instant disqualification for the intern involved.

As if that’s not enough, an anonymous weirdo with insider intel is trying to sabotage my dad’s company on social media…and I’m afraid it’s working.

Much as I’d love to quit, I can’t. Kristoffs Never Quit is our family motto. I just hope there’s more than one survivor by the end of this summer.
