Synopsis (from Goodreads): Sarah Keating was sure she’d be married by 30. Husband, kids, the kick-ass career helping adults with Down Syndrome—she assumed she’d have it all, and there’d be no need to fall back on the marriage pact she made with her best pal from college.

But a tipsy message she sends from her birthday party brings Ian Nolan to her door ready to rock her world, and not just with mind-blowing sex. He’s up for tying the knot, and has a million pragmatic reasons it makes perfectly good sense.

As Sarah and Ian test drive their marriage-of-convenience, they navigate awkward business dinners, a slippery steam room hookup, and a costume party gone awry. Their friendship is stronger than ever, and the sexual chemistry is off the charts.

But is that enough to make a marriage work, or will one of them fall hard and end up brokenhearted?

Thoughts: This was super good! I don’t know what I was expecting when I first started to read this but I am happy with the turnout! This is such a feel-good read, it had me in a constant state of happiness. With that said, it had some serious topics and it helped bring attention to different causes that get you thinking. I would highly recommend!

One Chance, Fancy – Review

Title: One Chance, Fancy

Author: Lani Lynn Vale

Publication Date: January 15, 2019

Pages: 245

Rating: 5 stars

**Thanks to the publisher for sending me a copy to review**

Thoughts:

Bayou is a perfect character. I loved all of his little quirks. He was really enjoyable to read about.  Phoebe was just as good of a character to read about. I loved getting to see her grow from previous books in this series. I have really enjoyed Bear Bottom Guardians MC. I can’t wait to continue into this series and I would highly recommend you become involved in it too!

Benson Bayou Beauregard is the president of the Bear Bottom Guardians MC, and the grandson of the Sergeant at Arms for the Dixie Wardens MC. He’s a mountain of a man and the warden of a prison, and there’s only one thing that can scare him—being told that he’s the father of a three-year-old little girl.

A three-year-old little girl that has no clue who he is. Hell, he only finds out about the little cherub when a woman from child protective services comes by and rocks his world before leaving the girl in his shocked arms.

Every single thing he thinks he knows goes up in a cloud of smoke.

To make matters worse, the woman that he’s been trying to convince to give him a chance takes one look at the little girl and tells him that he’s just not in the right place to handle both of them.

But Bayou was never one to back down from a challenge.

He can handle a three-year-old girl that acts exactly like him, and he can more than take on the fiery red-head that sets flame to his blood while he’s at it.

Finding Alexei – Review

Title: Finding Alexei

Author: Kendall Ryan

Publication Date: January 7, 2019

Pages: 300

Rating: 5 stars

**Thanks to the publisher for sending me a copy to review**

Synopsis (from Goodreads): He’s also a pro athlete who needs to focus on winning games and staying out of the headlines.

I’m fiercely independent and need a man like I need a second period each month.

So when our worlds collide, I never expected him to be the one to jump in and save me. Especially not when my roommate disappears, leaving me with her baby.

I’m clueless about babies—and it shows. Good thing Alexei isn’t. With six nieces and nephews and an apparent hero complex, the dude is both sexy and more than capable. It’s a combination that makes it easy to forget we’re just playing house

Thoughts: This was such a sweet read! It was nice to read about a good deed being done. Ryleigh has taken on her roommates baby ever since she dropped her off the last time she stayed, and had left Ryleigh to now become the mother to a sweet baby girl while barely getting by herself. Alexei comes to their rescue and gives them a warm place to stay after he walks her home and they realize her heat isn’t working. Alexei is totally swoon-worthy and I fell in love with him from the first few lines. I would highly recommend!

Rookie in Love – Review

Title: Rookie in Love

Author: Sarah White

Publisher: Tule Publishing

Publication Date: February 28, 2019

Rating: 4 stars

**Thanks to Net Galley for sending me a copy to review**

Synopsis (from Goodreads): He’s beneath her…

And that’s exactly where she wants him, like she’s never wanted anything — or anyone — before. Madeline’s been a good girl all her life.  Since the loss of her mother, she’s been willing to be guided by her father and brothers.  Now, in her last year of college, she’s found, Jackson. He makes her feel … everything. More aware. Exquisitely sensitive. Reckless with need. But Jackson’s a football star with a  reputation…can he give her the life her family wants for her?

Thoughts: This was an okay read. I did not like Madeline’s ex-boyfriend and found him annoying. I really did like Jackson though and I enjoyed Maddy’s and his relationship. Although this entire story was a bit hectic and quite insta-lovey for my liking.

Hissy Fit – Cover Reveal

She doesn’t step on cracks in the sidewalk.

She laughs at inappropriate times.

She talks when she shouldn’t.

BRENTON
I’m a desperate man.
The memories I’ve lost now threaten my future.
After years spent escaping my family’s high society drama I’m back in town to fix my past.
Only one person can help: The gorgeous and headstrong Rebeka Harding who hates me for something I can’t remember.
I’ll do anything including striking a unique deal with the one woman I want but can’t touch.
She agrees with one condition – just friends, no benefits.
We’ll see how long that lasts.

REBEKA
For thirteen years, I’ve resented Brenton Graves for deserting me.
I’ve tried to move on, refusing to think about what might have been.
Now he’s back in town, seeking redemption and looking as sexy as ever.
When he asks for my help, I know better than to accept.
But I will. Because no matter how much I want to hate Brenton, I don’t.

Read a short excerpt from MEMORIES OF US!

The tips of my fingers grasped the truck door handle, but a set of large hands gripped my shoulders and swiveled me, pushing my back against the scorching metal. The brisk walk and proximity to him had my heart thundering against my ribs and my chest heaving with each labored breath.

“Where in the hell are you going? I told you to stop,” he said, not even breathing hard after his chase.

“Home.” I shifted to turn, but his grip only tightened. “Let go, B. You did it once before. I’m sure it’ll be even easier the second time around.”

“What the hell are you talking about?” he gritted out. “What did I do? Who did I leave?”

Mouth gaping, I relaxed a fraction, only to tense again when Kyle shoved Brenton so hard that the tight grip on my shoulders released.

“Get the fuck off her,” Kyle yelled, taking a step toward Brenton with his fists raised.

“Listen, I’m just trying to—”

“What do you mean, ‘What did I do’?” I asked, taking a step toward the two fuming men.
Brenton’s green eyes cut to mine. “I—fuck! Get the hell off me.” He shoved Kyle, sending him stumbling back several steps.

Attention back on me, Brenton moved closer, eyes searching mine. “It means I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about. I don’t understand why you’re so pissed. Hell, I don’t even know why I’m out here right now. All I know is—” He shot an annoyed look at Ryder and Kyle. “Can we have two seconds here?”

Review:

This was such a good read. It flew by and pulled at my heartstrings. I was getting all of the feels while I was reading this! I absolutely loved Brenton’s character, I felt so sad and happy for him. I really felt bad for Rebeka, but I loved her characters all the same. I would highly recommend you read this!

My Bad – Book Review

Hoax knows two things very well.

One, he’s not relationship material. Two, the nurse that treats him for erectile dysfunction is the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen, and practically has ‘the marrying type’ stamped on her forehead.

Does that stop him from wanting her? No.

Unfortunately, he learned a long time ago that Army Delta Force and long-lasting relationships don’t go hand in hand.

But beautiful hazel eyes, curly blonde hair, and the prettiest lips he’s ever seen play havoc with his resolve, making him forget his earlier convictions.

All it takes is one teeny, tiny kiss for every shred of control he has to disappear, along with the problem in his pants.

Soon he finds himself doing things that he knows that he shouldn’t. He doesn’t know that he’s found the woman that’s meant to be his. Nor does he realize that her father is the man he’s idolized from the moment he joined the army at the age of eighteen. Because, maybe if he had, he would’ve tried a little harder to ignore the pull he felt between them instead of making her his the night before he deployed for six months.

He also might’ve tried a little harder not to knock her up.

Illegally Yours – Book Review

Rating: 4 stars

**Thanks to Net Galley for sending me a copy to review**

Synopsis(from Goodreads):

Rule #1: Never fall for your client.
Rule #2: Never fall for your client’s fiercely protective, smoking hot sister-in-law.

I’m the kind of guy who believes that everyone deserves the best legal representation money can buy—which just so happens to be me, Lucas Wright. Give me your henpecked, your cuckolded, your irreconcilable differences yearning to break free! And if you’re the bad guy in your marriage, that’s cool too. Your green is as good as anyone’s.

Tell that to Trinity Jones. It’s my job to destroy her sister—the soon-to-be ex-wife of my a-hole of a client—and Trinity’s “big sis” instincts are dialed up to the max. I admire that. I admire her. But she won’t stop me from representing my client to the best of my ability.

Not even if my chemistry with Trinity is undeniable. Not even if we can’t keep our hands off each other. Not even if she injects life into a heart assumed to be long dead.

Because when faced with a choice between love and duty, the job will always win—or at least that’s what I thought before I met Trinity . . . and suddenly conflict of interest never felt so right.

Thoughts: I really enjoyed reading this. I don’t know what I was expecting when I picked this up but this was not what I was expecting. I really loved the connection between Trinity and Lucas! I would love to see a continuation of their story or any of their friends.

Synopsis(from Goodreads):

Christian: They call me a hockey god because I’m a beast on the ice . . . and off. Men want to be me and women just want me. But now that the New York Nighthawks expect me to lead their team to victory, it’s all work and no play. My eyes are on the prize. Until I meet Serena Ellis, a sexy, curvalicious blonde who doesn’t know me from jack. And just like that, I’m hooked.

Serena: I don’t do one-night stands—especially with celebrity jocks who date models. Lots of models. But the god of hockey is a temptation that’s hard for mere mortals to resist. And after the best kiss of my life, I’m ready to throw my one-night stand rule out the window. Except Christian Chase won’t let me. He doesn’t want a one-night stand. He wants it all.

Game On – Book Review

Title: Game On

Author: Kelly Jamieson

Publisher: Loveswept

Publication Date: January 15, 2019

Pages: 250 pages

Rating: 5 stars

**Thanks to Net Galley for sending me a copy to review**

Synopsis(from Goodreads): Cam Brickley and his pro hockey teammates bet on everything: who can win five faceoffs in a row, who can do forty pushups in less than a minute, who can eat a ghost pepper without puking. But when his buddies bet him he can’t date the same woman—like, say, the hot blonde over at the bar—for two months and not fall in love, he’ll take that bet all day. Then he’ll laugh all the way to the hockey arena, where they’ll be washing his jock straps for the rest of the season, because Cam’s never giving up his bachelor lifestyle.

Olivia Lockwood, heiress to the Lockwood Industries fortune, is used to people using her for her money and family connections. When Cam Brickley hits on her in a club, Olivia’s first instinct is to brush him off. But he couldn’t be using her for her money, since he has more than enough of his own. Cam’s gorgeous and built, and it would be no hardship to go out with him . . . besides, he’d be the perfect spokesperson for the children’s charity she works with. Maybe it’s time for her to start using people.

Cam and Olivia are both in it for something. What they don’t know yet is that they’re playing for keeps.

Thoughts: This is probably one of my favorite reads this past week! I don’t think I laughed out loud so much during a book before. This was such a nice feel-good novel! I also didn’t want to put it down! I loved this book so much and I need to go back and read the first novels in this series!

Risky Play – Book Review

Title: Risky Play

Author: Rachel Van Dyken

Publisher: Skyscape

Publication Date: March 19, 2019

Rating: 5 stars

**Thanks to Net Galley for sending me a copy to review**

Synopsis(from Goodreads): What else can a virgin do when she’s ditched at the altar? Seattle heiress Mackenzie Dupont is treating herself to a single-girl honeymoon in Mexico and a desire to relinquish her innocence to a gorgeous one-night stand. Fake names. True pleasure. But when she wakes up alone, Mackenzie realizes just how much anger is left in her broken heart.

Suffering a tragic personal loss, pro soccer player Slade Rodriguez has his reasons for vanishing without a goodbye. Right or wrong, he’s blaming the beautiful and infuriating stranger he never wants to see again. They’re both in for a shock when Mackenzie shows up as his new personal assistant. And they both have a lot to learn about each other. Because they share more than they could possibly know, including a common enemy who’s playing his own games. And he’s not afraid to get dirty.

Now there’s only one way Mackenzie and Slade can win: to trust in each other and to stop hiding from the lies they’ve told, the secrets they’ve kept, the mistakes they’ve made, and the attraction that still burns between them.

Thoughts: I was hooked from page one! Rachel Van Dyken has written some pretty fabulous novels but this is my by far my favorite one to date. I love these two characters together, they both complement each other so well. Mackenzie is such a good character she has to have the patience of a god. I really liked Slade’s character, he really added to this story but he could be a really mean to Mackenzie but the ways he would make it up to her in the sweetest ways!

About The First Rule of Hook-Ups:

Someone once told me that there are worst things than being left at the altar. Well, not many, in my experience. That was six months ago, though, and my life has moved on. Heck, I have a new job lined up and I’m leaving town.

But, I can’t deny that my love life kind of sucks.

Last time we were here, it was for my bachelorette party. That night, I met one of the dancers – Raphael – and when he flirted with me, I almost forgot I was engaged. And there’s a part of me that never forgot him.

***

Screams of excitement and applause yanked her from the brink of an orgasm.

The music faded.
His chest heaved as if he’d run a race.

Her heart echoed in her ears. She moved to sit up, and her shin bumped his prominent erection.

He gritted his teeth with a sucked in breath. “Don’t. Move.” He nodded to someone backstage. As soon as the gold curtain dropped, Raphael eased off her. He hitched up his jeans, but it was obvious that he couldn’t zip past the bulge in his briefs.

She gripped his outstretched hand and scooted to the floor.

His gaze lingered on her mouth. He leaned in.

Desire pooled inside of her, and her legs wobbled. Months ago, she’d beaten herself up over the kiss they’d shared. Back then, he’d pressed his lips to hers and left her wondering about how he’d taste. What it would feel like to drift her tongue over his. Now she could find out.

Raphael halted millimeters away, then shook his head as if in answer to a silent question. He took off his cowboy hat and dropped it on her head. “One of the guys will show you back to your seat.” He spun on his heels and left.

Huh? No kiss? That’s not how this was supposed to end. “Wait!”

The blond-haired Hunk stood in front of her.

She ignored the gentlemanly offer of his arm and pushed past him.

A dozen or more of the Hot Body Hunks in various stages of undress rushed around behind the curtain and down the corridor to the left.

Raphael stalked down the one ahead of her.

She went after him, her heels clicking rapidly on the white tiles.

He glanced back. “This is a private area.”

“You forgot something.”

“Keep the damn hat.” He stopped at the end of the hallway and stabbed a code into a keypad next to a green metal door.

“That’s not why I’m here. I want that kiss you promised me.”

“Promised?” He released a harsh chuckle and yanked the door open. “Fairy tale’s over. This is reality. Any kiss I give you now, princess, ends with you only wearing the hat.”

Fairy tale and reality? Those two fickle bitches could kick rocks. She’d been left at the altar. Now, she’d been abandoned on a fake hay bale. She’d had it with guys not following through. Raphael revved her up.

He damn well needed to finish what he had started.

“My name’s Alexa, not princess, and I know what I want.” Alexa marched up to him and wound her arms around his neck. “For you to stop making excuses and ….”

This was not at all what I was expecting but it was really good. Rafe was such a wonderful character and really enjoyed reading about him! Alexa was such a tough cookie for making it through her situation! this would be a perfect book to be made into a movie! I can’t wait to continue in this series.

Knocked-Up Cinderella – Book Review

Title: Knocked-Up Cinderella

Author: Julie Hammerle

Publisher: Entangled: August

Publication Date: November 12, 2018

Rating: 5 stars

**Thanks to Net Galley for sending me a copy to review**

Synopsis(from Goodreads): I’m a walking contradiction.
School principal who liberally drops the F bomb.
Fiercely independent yet willing to auction myself off for charity.
Serial monogamist who’s down for a no-strings one-night stand.

Except now I’ve gone from one-working-ovary to co-parent in the time it took a stick to turn blue.

F. Bomb.

Ian Donovan may be a richer-than-hell venture capitalist, but he’s no Prince Charming ready to sweep me off my feet. Good thing I don’t need him. I’ve been doing fine on my own for forty years, and I’m not about to start changing that now.

Ultrasounds, swollen feet, midnight cravings? Bring. It. On.

But why is it when you finally swear off men, you meet one who’s too sexy—and determined we can make it work?

F. Bomb.

Thoughts: This was a super cute read! I don’t know what I was expecting but this sure wasn’t it. I was pleasantly surprised while I was reading this! I really love Ian’s character but not necessarily some things he did. I really enjoyed Erin’s positivity in some tough situations. This was an exciting read that left me on my toes!

What About Us – Book Review

Title: What About Us

Author: Sidney Halston

Publisher: Random House Publishing Group – Loveswept

Publication Date: November 20, 2018

Rating: 3 stars

**Thanks to Net Galley for sending me a copy to review**

Synopsis (from Goodreads):

Alex: I hate doing business in clubs. Especially one like Duality. I’m here to seal a deal, not indulge in whatever hedonistic illusion they’re selling. Until, through all the skin and sex on display, I see her. Helen Blackwood. The girl who once filled my youthful fantasies, whose name is now synonymous with pain. Her father’s lies destroyed my family, leaving me with nothing to lose. And yet I can’t deny my electric response to her touch . . . or my urge to protect her when I see the bruise on her face.

Helen: Growing up, life prepared me for society galas and powerful men, not minimum-wage jobs or drunk exes with anger issues. But I’m a survivor. So here I am, practically naked, serving drinks at a Miami nightclub. I don’t mind the stares. Apparently, Alex Archer does. After twelve years, we aren’t exactly friends, but money is something we both understand. Something he knows I need. I’ll be his personal assistant, even if it means working with the man I hate . . . and the man I still want.

Thoughts: This was good in the moment but between the times I’ve read this and writing my review, I’ve forgotten what most of it was about until I read the synopsis. I did enjoy each character and the storyline.

Synopsis (from Goodreads):

Harper McKinney finished culinary school with big dreams. Right now, she’s a bartender at Kinky Spurs. While she’s content with her life, her brother is determined that she make a name for herself, because he wants her far away from what he deems a trashy bar. But Harper refuses to go anywhere. She’s in love with her brother’s best friend, Chase Blackshaw, and that love is keeping her in River Rock.

After the death of Chase’s father, he’s the one responsible for running the construction of the Blackshaw Cattle Company’s guest ranch. Back in the day, he had dreams of opening a construction company, but lack of finances kept him working for the family’s cattle ranch. Now with the responsibility of his family’s guest ranch on his shoulders, those dreams seem far away. Though he has bigger problems. His build is failing the inspections.

Now Chase has more trouble on his hands. Harper, the woman he’s forbidden to ever touch has decided to move to Las Vegas. She isn’t so little anymore, and Chase is finding her all too tempting. She’s also not shy about what she wants. Him. Naked. And giving her some sweet lovin’ in all the kinky ways he craves. But neither Chase nor Harper can anticipate the fate that awaits them if they dare give in to their desires, as Chase soon learns there is something far worse than not being able to live out his dreams. It’s being given the chance to live out his dreams but having to watch Harper lose hers.

Thoughts: This was such a fun read. I have really enjoyed Stacey Kennedy novels. They are such a nice and easy read. I love the family atmosphere that this gives off.  I also love how sweet that Chase was to take in a stray puppy. My heart melted into a puddle. I would highly recommend reading this!

Thoughts:

These were such cute and fun reads. I enjoyed each individual story and I can’t wait to read more into a series. Each of these had such cute moments. I think my favorite one was Love on the Edge of Reason, mainly because I love a good pregnant romance. But each of these are great stories with a Christmas spirit, that makes me excited for the holidays!

Synopsis (from Goodreads):

Mackenzie Hart has made a career out of writing about eternal love, so when she finds her perfect match in Hunter Kane, she decides to put it all on the line. Irresistibly charming and drenched in alpha-male swagger, Hunter isn’t just the catch of the town—he’s Mackenzie’s best friend. Only someone beats her to the altar. After a fresh start and three years to recover, the last thing Mackenzie expects is for her old life to come knocking…

Recently divorced, musician Hunter Kane wants to reconnect with the woman he left behind. Admitting his biggest mistake comes first. What comes next is up to Mackenzie. He hopes she’ll give him a second chance. He may have been the one to break her heart, but he knows he can also be the one to mend it.

As a tenuous friendship turns into something more, Hunter’s life on the road beckons once again. Will love be enough to keep them together, or will their wildly different worlds be too much for them to overcome?

Thoughts: I have not read anything like this. I was intrigued to learn more about these characters as the novel went on. I really hope that there will be the next book and make this a series! Hunter was an interesting character to read about. I would become frustrated with him at times like I’m sure Mackenzie is. This was an eye-opening read and I think everyone should pick this up.

He Loves You Not – Book Review

Title: He Loves You Not

Author: Tara Brown

Publisher: Skyscape

Publication Date: October 23, 2018

Pages: 337

Rating: 1 star

**Thanks to Net Galley for sending me a copy to review**

Synopsis (from Goodreads):

Among her superrich friends, Lacey Winters never minded being the “poor one.” That is, until her tuition money and big dreams vanish overnight. Now Lacey has a plan to make some extra cash—a devilishly brilliant plan. For a fee, she’ll test your boyfriend to find out if he’s faithful or a cheating jerk. Her next target: a slick and sexy trust-fund playboy. Unfortunately for Lacey, his charms aren’t just legend. And before she knows it, she’s under his spell.

It was bad enough that Jordan Somersby’s father forced a spoiled “society princess” on him. Then Jordan had to go and find his dream girl—the beautiful, fun, and down-to-earth Lacey. And he’ll do anything to prove he’s sincere. But pretty soon it’ll be Lacey’s turn to prove that this is not just a game.

Because, when it comes to mixing love and deception, nothing is what it seems. And Lacey and Jordan are about to face the ultimate test.

Thoughts: I was very disappointed in this. I don’t think Tara Brown is for me. I just can’t seem to connect to her books very well. I really did not enjoy reading this, the characters are too winey and overprivileged. I don’t think I will be picking up anymore from this author and series.

Dear Jane – Book Review

Title: Dear Jane
Author: Kendall Ryan

Publication Date: October 15, 2018
Rating: 5 stars
**Thanks to the publisher for sending me a copy to review**
Synopsis (from Goodreads): I broke her heart ten years ago and left town.

She hates me, and rightly so. It doesn’t matter that the rest of the country loves me, that I’m a starting quarterback with a multimillion-dollar contract. Because when I look in the mirror, all I see is a failure who was too young—and too afraid—to fight for what I wanted.

But I’m not that guy anymore, and all I need is one shot to convince her.

***

He has no idea what happened after he left. And now I’m supposed to work alongside him like we don’t have this huge, messy history?

But I’m older now, wiser, and I won’t let anything stand in my way of doing a good job for this league. Not even one overpaid, arrogant player who thinks we’re going to kiss and make up.

News flash, buddy: I am over you.
Thoughts: This was such a quick read! I was super invested in the characters and their story. Kendall Ryan is a master of writing amazing romance. This was such a sweet and sexy read. I would highly recommend this and any other Kendall Ryan novels!

Dangerous Exes – Book Review

Title: Dangerous Exes

Author: Rachel Van Dyken

Publisher: Skyscape

Publication Date: October 30, 2018

Pages: 318

Rating: 5 stars

**Thanks to Net Galley for sending me a copy to review**

Synopsis (from Goodreads): Isla made one teeny little mistake. Now she and her PI company, Dirty Exes, are being targeted by one seriously angry and furiously sexy ex-quarterback. Jessie freakin’ Beckett. But there’s no way some NFL superhunk is going to take her business away. If only he didn’t make her so hot—and bothered.

Jessie wants payback for a ruined reputation. His plan? Top secret. His hard-to-hide arousal for Isla? Not so much. Especially when they let down their guards and sneak a kiss. Like any juicy scandal, it goes so viral, so fast, that only a good lie can combat the bad press. Mortal enemies in a fling? No way. Um…this is love!

Actually…could it be?

Isla’s not faking it. Jessie can’t. As the game of let’s pretend gets real, Jessie forgets all about revenge. That’s the problem. His plan is already out of his control. Now it could undo everything they’ve been trying to build. Coming clean may be the only thing that can save it.

Thoughts: I didn’t realize this was the second book in the story, and I will be picking it up soon, but this was a great standalone. I felt so bad for Jessie and I felt awful for him, the same goes for Isla. I wish I could have been there for them. I loved how they both started to connect when neither of them wanted to. I would highly recommend.

Off the Ice – Book Review

Title: Off the Ice

Author: L. P. Dover

Publisher: L.P. Dover LLC

Publication Date: October 16, 2018

Rating: 5 stars

**Thanks to Net Galley for sending me a copy to review**

Synopsis (from Goodreads): He’s always made the scoring plays, both on and off the ice, but this time he has a new goal … the one for Meghan’s heart.

I’m Justin Davis, all-star center for the Charlotte Strikers. For years, I chased the spotlight, not only with hockey, but through television as well. That’s why I decided to play the bachelor on Rich and Single. Unfortunately, I was stuck with a fake fiancée from hell who I couldn’t stand to be around. Now that our contract is up, I’m allowed to do whatever I want, with whoever I want. I plan to take full advantage of my newfound freedom.

After being on the show, people don’t recognize me for hockey anymore, even with just winning the Stanley Cup for my team. That’s why I’m spending the off season in a remote cabin in Wyoming where the chances of people knowing me are slim. Space is what I need, but when a down to earth beauty needs help on her ranch, I can’t resist. Meghan Taylor is exactly what I’ve been looking for, even though I’m not the kind of man she wants.

Getting her to see the real me has its challenges, but the more time I spend with her, the easier it is for her to see that I’m not the same guy she knows from TV. Being away from the media is one thing, but as soon as I’m back in the spotlight, I’m afraid it’ll change what we have. I don’t want to lose her, but I also can’t hide away in Wyoming forever. It’s a choice I’m not ready to make.

Thoughts: I didn’t know this was a series until after I finished it, but it definitely can be read as a standalone. I loved the connection between these two characters. Justin is such a great male character, he is the most genuine character that I have read about. I can’t wait to pick up the rest of the series!

Perfectly Inappropriate – Book Review

Title: Perfectly Inappropriate

Author: Stacey Kennedy

Publisher: Loveswept

Publication Date: November 27, 2018

Pages: 203

Rating: 5 stars

**Thanks to Net Galley for sending me a copy to review**

Synopsis (from Goodreads): Olivia Watts knows that her problems are painfully average. She got engaged, and her fiancé cheated. She gave up on her dream job—street photographer—and settled on a more practical one: graphic designer. She scrimped and saved to buy a home, only to realize how empty it was. So when Olivia hears about an exclusive dating app that matches subs with highly trained doms, she does something she never thought she’d do in a million years: She signs up. The last thing she expects to find is a man whose sizzling touch reawakens the woman she used to be. . . .

Noah Grant has no time for relationships. His sole purpose is to win reelection. That’s why he pays a premium to the discreet app that satisfies all his dark desires. But after sweet, innocent Olivia is vetted and arrives for their week together in his penthouse, it’s blatantly clear that she’s running from her demons. Noah’s more than willing to be her escape—until their emotions get tangled up in their games. Now, to become worthy of Olivia’s heart, Noah will have to prove that he’s more than a fantasy.

Thoughts: This was not at all what I was expecting when I picked this up. I was expecting a fluffy read but this was a lot more serious than that. Noah was an interesting character that I was not expecting, but I was surprised by how easily he could take control with a flip of a switch. I really loved Olivia’s character, and I really felt for her going through. I was also interested that her new profession is photography and I was thought that was really cool.
